Placebo
by my opinion continues the tradition of great British rock
bands of 80's. Brian Molko is surely a controversial and
charismatic personality - as a composer and a performer
alike. I think that Molko's voice is in a way as distinctive
as Billy Corgan's: love it or hate it, but nothing in between.
I love it.
I
have been drawn to the Placebo sound since their very initial
productions, when it was quite obvious that they were going
to be the "new European alternative rock music heroes".
Their first album was very powerful - almost with some pure
"punk" moments. I really can't say which song
from this album is my favorite - I know that in live all
the songs from this work are pure dynamites... But their
masterpiece to my opinion was their second album "Without
You I'm nothing". The song with the same title - in
version with David Bowie - is really one of the best songs
I've ever heard in my entire life. Their third album "Black
Market Music" is quite good but it's the kind of albums
that you have to hear many times and very carefully to appreciate.
I
have seen Placebo live in Greece twice: summer 1999 and
summer 2001. Their first concert was slightly better than
the second but in any case Placebo is a great live band
to see. In Greece they are very popular and all their albums
have become golden, even in the mainstream charts.
The
situation about which site is the official is really confused...
In many search engines you will find this
as Placebo's official web site but it looks like nobody
is taking care to update it. So we strongly believe that
the
official site is here - which is very updated and very
comprehensive. Quite good site too for Placebo is "Without
You I'm nothing". Brian
Molko's personal site worths a visit too.
